Plitvice Lakes National Park Reviews

The park itself is gorgeous, but wow, the signs and directions were a mess. I don’t have much patience for wandering around in circles, and that’s basically what happened. We kept seeing arrows that didn’t match the map, and a few paths had little to no info about which route we were even on. Finding the boat stop and the exits was way more stressful than it needed to be, especially with hardly any staff around to ask. For such a well-known place, the wayfinding really needs improvement.

Booking the tickets was easy enough, but when we went in July it was absolutely packed. The paths felt stressful to get through, and it was hard to actually relax and enjoy the visit with so many people everywhere. I also got the feeling that any message or concern you send just kind of disappears, like nobody really reads it.

We checked the website before heading out, but the weather info didn’t help us much. It was raining hard, maybe for most of the couple hours we were there, and a few of the paths felt slippery. The views were mostly covered in fog too, so we probably only saw about half of what we hoped to see. I get that they can’t control the weather, but it would’ve been nice if the site gave a better idea of what conditions were like or whether it was still worth visiting that day. It’s definitely a nice spot, just wasn’t the best visit for us.

I could tell quickly this wasn’t worth the money. Maybe others will feel differently, but my snap judgment after trying it was that it just didn’t live up to the price

The place itself was really nice and definitely worth seeing, but wow, the parking fee was a bit much. After already paying what you’d expect for a national park, getting hit with another big charge at the end felt convenient for them. I guess enjoying nature now comes with a few extra checkout surprises...

The lakes are stunning, no doubt about that. But I walked away feeling more sad than relaxed because the preservation side didn’t seem well handled. Some of the paths were really crowded, and I noticed people wandering off trail while staff didn’t seem to do much about it. There was also litter around the busier areas, and a few bins were completely full. For a national park with such incredible nature, I expected stricter rules and better care. It’s a gorgeous place, but the whole experience left me a bit disappointed.

I had a frustrating time using this. The menus weren’t very clear, and the text was so small that I kept having to explain what I was trying to find over and over, which got old fast. It just didn’t feel easy to navigate.

I wanted to enjoy the hike, but the maps were really unhelpful and the trail signs were confusing. I’m sure people put effort into them, but they didn’t make much sense and made the whole experience more frustrating than it needed to be...

I went into this feeling hopeful, like maybe it would be better than expected. But after trying it, I was just disappointed. There were a couple moments where I thought, okay, maybe this isn’t so bad, but then the frustration kicked back in. For the price and what you actually get, it just doesn’t feel worth it to me.

I’ve been to a few places like this before and usually don’t mind a bit of a crowd, but this one just wasn’t worth bringing the camera for. The paths were packed, and it was hard to find any decent angles for photos. I left feeling like I got more frustration than good shots.

I booked the shuttle through np-plitvicka-jezera, the whole thing felt a bit off from the start. The bus showed up late, nobody at the stop seemed to know what was happening, and there wasn’t any clear information about where we were supposed to wait. We ended up standing around for nearly an hour, which made me wonder how organized this service really is. The driver wasn’t rude, but he wasn’t exactly helpful either. For a visit to a national park, it made the morning way more stressful than it needed to be. I wouldn’t book their shuttle again.

I was just trying to find ticket info and the site made it way harder than it needed to be. Some pages took forever to load, then I’d end up somewhere that didn’t really answer my question. Also, on my phone the menu felt kind of all over the place. I kept clicking around, going back, trying another page, then getting annoyed again. Eventually I just gave up because it was too much work for something that should be simple...

We went with our two kids, and it ended up being more stressful than I expected. The lakes are absolutely gorgeous, no question, but the paths were really busy and some of the wooden walkways felt a little nerve-racking with a toddler. There also wasn’t much room to stop for a minute without feeling like you were blocking everyone. The weird part is, everything looks so calm and easy in photos, but once you’re there with kids, it feels very different. I wish the website had clearer info for families, like which routes are actually manageable with small kids or strollers. Getting tickets was simple enough, but overall it just didn’t feel very family friendly for us

The tickets already felt expensive, especially for a family, and then parking and food added even more on top. What annoyed me most was that it wasn’t really communicated clearly ahead of time how much everything would end up costing. I get that it’s a well-known place, but it started to feel more like we were paying tourist prices than just enjoying nature. Worth visiting once, but at these prices, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back.

We ended up waiting way longer than we expected, and there wasn’t much communication from the staff, so everyone was just sort of standing around confused. When I asked about it later, the response was basically like, “delays can happen and the boats run as soon as they’re available,” which is fair, but it didn’t really help in the moment. The actual boat ride was fine once we got on, but the lines felt really disorganized. For the price of the ticket, I expected the whole process to be a lot smoother. It didn’t ruin the entire day, but it definitely put a damper on the visit.
